Draft HTML 5 released!

Wow, what a day in the web world huh?

Well, I had seen previews already, but I’m still very excited to see the draft of HTML 5 officially released by the W3C Working Group! Note that this is a “working” draft meaning that you can provide feedback :)

The W3C have written a publication outlining the differences between HTML 4 and HTML 5 (so far). There is a substantial difference, this is no minor version change.

There’s an informative article at Wired.com which explains it “plain English”.

Interesting article from last year about web standards too!

Here’s hoping that the browser developers will come through and support this new version. The only barrier to proper standards development is these unhinged bloody browsers.

I’m very excited, as this is right up my alley. I have been sending feedback to them through-out this process and it’s nice to see something come out.
